Best Places to Raise a Family US

Methodology

We based our ranking of the Best places to raise a family in the US on the following criteria: Safety, affordability and quality of life.

Crimes refer to the crime rates in different cities’ official websites. The data are composed of violent crimes, property crimes, theft, arson, drugs, and assaults. To ensure accuracy, we calculated the average number of various crimes per 1000 people.

Affordability comes from Rockethomes’ median property buying cost in December 2023 and Zillow’s median rent in January 2024.

The “best quality of life” aspect is measured based on feedback from real people who have moved to this area in our database or real people from trusted online forums.
