Methodology

Our ranking methodology is based on a comprehensive analysis of crime rates, sourced from CrimeMapping.com, covering the period from October 8, 2024, to February 5, 2025. This platform provides data on various crimes, including arson, assault, burglary, disturbing the peace, drug/alcohol violations, DUI, fraud, homicide, motor vehicle theft, robbery, sex crimes, theft/larceny, vandalism, vehicle break-ins/theft, and weapons offenses. CrimeMapping.com aggregates crime data reported by law enforcement agencies.

Please note that the data presented is not exhaustive, as agencies have the ability to customize the crime types and codes displayed. Furthermore, only incidents that have been reported will appear on the site, meaning there may be delays in updates. Unreported incidents or those from non-participating agencies may not be included. Additionally, technical issues may impact the frequency or accuracy of data updates.

To ensure reliability, we calculated the average number of crimes per 1,000 residents, using the most recent population data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The “best quality of life” factor is evaluated through feedback from individuals in our database who have moved to the area, as well as input from trusted online forums. Specifically, we assess positive reviews regarding job opportunities, education quality, healthcare services, safety, public transportation, cleanliness, and the availability of recreational facilities and parks.
